Help in an Accident
If you, a family member, or a friend is
ever in an automobile accident, it is important to do the
following to help yourself:
- Assist the injured and call the police and/or ambulance.
- Obtain immediate medical attention.
- Exchange information with the other driver to include
driver's name, names of passengers, license plate #, auto
insurance, and vehicle make & model..
- Record names and phone numbers of any and all witnesses.
- Obtain an accident report from the police.
- Take photos of any cuts or bruises on your body to
document the severity of your injuries.
- Take photos of the damage to your car, even if that
means going to the place where your car was towed and is
being held.
- Do not sign any papers from the insurance company (your
or the other driver's) if you don't understand the meaning.
- Please call the Woodstock Chiropractic Clinic today to
schedule an examination for all individuals involved in the
accident. Since we specialize in traumatic injuries and
specifically, auto collisions, we can provide natural
treatment to help you heal from your injuries. We can also
assist you with insurance paperwork and answer any questions
you may have regarding your policy rights under personal
injury protection coverage (your auto insurance).
Why do I need a chiropractic physician who specializes
in auto collision injuries? We take the time to
evaluate each individual involved in the accident and we are
aware of the many factors which affect your risk for
injuries, including but not limited to:
- type of collision (rear-end, front-end, side impact,
others)
- vehicles involved (SUV, small car, others)
- gender / age / size / and positioning of individual
involved in the collision (child, adult, elderly, tall or
short stature)
- previous health of occupants involved
- difficulties with home or work duties while injured
Symptoms do not always occur immediately after an
accident. They can take weeks to develop before you feel
anything abnormal. For example, carpal tunnel syndrome has
been documented to be felt in individuals (typically the
driver) several weeks after an auto collision. Disc
injuries can also take weeks to progress in pathology and
thereby result in increasing symptomology such as pain,
numbness, tingling, and/or weakness. We are always
willing to answer any and all questions you have about
chiropractic care. Come visit our office, call us, or send
an e-mail if you have any questions. |
